About Karuna Maraj
I am Karuna Maraj, founder and Principal Attorney of Pragma Legal. My office is in Sangre Grande, but I serve clients across Trinidad and Tobago.
My path to law was not a straight line. I started my career as a teacher, and that experience shaped the kind of lawyer I became. I believe in explaining the law clearly, listening carefully, and giving you honest advice - even when it is not what you want to hear.
I do not believe in legal jargon for its own sake. When you work with me, you will understand your situation, your options, and the likely outcomes. That is my promise.
My Journey
From the classroom to the courtroom.
The Classroom Years
Before I became a lawyer, I was a teacher. Those years gave me something no law school could - the ability to break down complex ideas into plain language. I learned how to listen, how to be patient, and how to meet people where they are.
The Call to Law
I pursued legal studies because I saw how much people in my community needed accessible, trustworthy legal guidance. Too many people were intimidated by the legal process or felt that quality legal representation was out of reach.
Building Pragma Legal
I founded Pragma Legal with a clear philosophy: practical, approachable legal counsel. The name "Pragma" comes from the Greek word for practical action. That is exactly what I deliver - real solutions, not legal theatre.
Construction Industry Focus
As retained in-house counsel to an active construction group, I developed deep expertise in FIDIC contracts, construction disputes, delay claims, and procurement law. I understand the industry from the inside - the pressures, the timelines, and the commercial realities.
Today
From my office in Sangre Grande, I serve clients across Trinidad and Tobago.
